Completely offline
Step Out does not connect to the internet. There are no accounts, ads, tracking, or data uploads. All voice clips and ringtones are included in the app.
Why the microphone is optional
With voice interaction enabled, the app reads sound levels only after you answer, to detect when you are speaking. It does not understand, transcribe, save, or upload your speech. Microphone access stops when the call ends, you leave the app, or audio is interrupted.
You can say no
A complete simulated call works without microphone access. The caller leaves timed pauses for your replies. You can also press # on the call keypad to continue.
What stays on your device
Only your caller name, scenario, language, countdown, vibration, and interaction preferences are saved. Contacts are not accessed and real call history is not created. Uninstalling the app removes these local preferences.
About simulated calls
This app does not place, receive, or connect real calls and cannot be used for emergency assistance. Use it for personal practice or a polite exit, never for fraud, impersonation, or false emergencies. Silent mode, headphones, and volume settings affect playback.
Before you use it
Try a call first to check the ringtone, receiver volume, and conversation pace. The simulation works only in the foreground; leaving the app or locking your device stops it.

The Step Out app works offline. Visiting this website is different: your browser sends your IP address and browser and request information to our hosting server so it can deliver the pages. This website does not use cookies, analytics, or advertising trackers. We do not keep routine web access logs; necessary server error logs may contain basic request information used to diagnose technical problems.
